I read all of these books in about 8 days. Amazing story line. Some reviewers are getting caught up saying that Hardin was abusive and these books are about abusive relationships. I disagree. I saw this as a series about a young man (Hardin) who had childhood trauma as a result of his experiences and in turn, he lost sight of who he was and the beauty of love and life- until he met someone (Tessa) who colored his world and he wanted to do better for her, for him, for them. Change is not an overnight process, and the author describes the changes that take place, the ebb and flow of how relationships often go. People are imperfect, and he made mistakes, as did Tessa, but these are young people learning how to navigate relationships (and in Tessa's case she had little to no experience with a serious relationship). Hardin had experiences that were nothing more than an experience until he met Tessa so you could say he was also inexperienced with relationships as well.
